Your recordings are processed and stored locally on your computer. Supporting Caster does not upload recordings or send usage data to the developer or third parties.
Supporting Caster is an internal tool for recording, annotating, reviewing, and exporting video walkthroughs.
Information the extension handles
When you choose to record, Supporting Caster processes the screen, window, or browser tab you select. Depending on the options you enable, recordings may also include your camera, microphone, and available tab or system audio.
Recordings may contain personal or confidential information visible or audible in the source you choose. Record only content you are authorized to capture.
The extension also handles:
- Recording titles, notes, chapter markers, trim settings, and export status.
- Video thumbnails generated from your recordings.
- Recording preferences, device selections, and annotation settings.
- Mouse positions, clicks, and drawing input needed to display pointer effects and annotations on a webpage you explicitly enable.
This information is used to provide the extension’s recording, annotation, library, playback, editing, and export features.
Local processing and storage
Video recordings and thumbnails are stored in the extension’s local storage within your Chrome profile. Recording metadata and preferences are also stored locally.
Supporting Caster does not require an account, operate a cloud recording library, or automatically synchronize recordings between devices. It does not include advertising, analytics, or usage-tracking services.
The developer does not receive or have remote access to your recordings through the extension.
Permissions and user control
You select the source to record through Chrome’s screen-sharing controls. Camera and microphone access depend on your selected options and browser permissions.
Webpage annotation tools are added only after you explicitly enable them for a selected tab. Supporting Caster requests temporary tab access rather than ongoing access to all websites.
Storage permissions allow the extension to retain recordings, thumbnails, and settings locally, including recordings that exceed normal browser storage quotas.
Retention and deletion
Recordings remain in your local library until you delete them or the extension’s stored data is removed. Deleting a recording through Supporting Caster removes its local video, thumbnail, and associated library metadata.
Removing the extension, deleting its data, or deleting the Chrome profile may remove the local library. Export recordings you need to retain.
Exported files are separate copies. Deleting a recording from the library does not delete those copies; you must manage them in the location where you saved them.
Data use commitments
Supporting Caster’s use of user data complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.
Data is used only to provide the extension’s stated functionality. Supporting Caster does not sell user data, use it for advertising, use it for unrelated profiling, or use it to determine creditworthiness or for lending purposes.
Security
Keep your device and Chrome profile secure, and follow your organization’s requirements for recording, storing, and sharing confidential information. Anyone with sufficient access to your device or profile may be able to access locally stored files.
